Malcolm joined the coatings industry in 1964. A graduate in chemistry from the University of Aston, Malcolm has worked for several leading names in the surface coating field, holding a number of management roles within the industry.

Among other duties, Malcolm held the position of Safety, Health & Environmental manager at a busy coatings manufacturer during the period when UK and EC legislation was undergoing major changes. He has a Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health. With a keen appreciation ofsafety matters, Malcolm recognised the increasing pressures on industry arising fromthe original Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations, 1992 and the Environmental Protection Act, 1990.

The scope of his experience includes product development, technical service, systems & administration, sales, production, safety health & environment, training, quality and financial planning. He has also been directly involved in the planning, installation and commissioning of equipment and the training of staff at a number of coatings manufacturing sites, both in the UK and abroad. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Metal Finishing and a Member of the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.

Malcolm is a member of several committees advising on industrial training matters and is a tutor for the Institute of Metal Finishing. He has sat on review and advisory committees with the Health & Safety Executive and Environmental Agency as an industry specialist.

His qualifications and training as an industrial chemist and a safety, health and environmental specialist, combined with his experience in industry, provide a sound platform for the advisory services Ad Qual Castech provide.
